The Climate Change and Planning in Victoria project represents critical and essential work to understand how to progress action on climate change through the planning system. This includes the need to grapple with how the sector currently enables, or inhibits, such action.
This project tackles head-on the limitations of existing planning systems and processes, providing a comprehensive assessment of existing weaknesses and a road map for system reform. The project reflects the progressive, action focused collaboration – from a traditional advocacy focus to coordinated strategy and action for climate mitigation and adaptation in the built environment.
The judges found this project deserving of a Commendation, with its determined focus on meaningful system change, and ambition for significant and sector wide improvement in built from climate change outcomes.
