Darlene Irvine

For more than two decades, Darlene Irvine has been a powerful and passionate voice for good planning in Far North Queensland through her role as Executive Officer of the FNQ Regional Organisation of Councils.

Darlene’s tireless advocacy for best-practice planning at the regional scale and across transport, water, roads, resources, housing, economic development and the environment has helped shape the region she loves. Judges were impressed by her dedication and commitment to collaboration and coordination of Far North Queensland local governments to help advance the liveability, prosperity and sustainability of this diverse region.

Darlene’s contribution is evidenced in her work establishing the FNQROC Local Government Regional Planners Group, the preparation of the FNQ Development Manual and her tireless advocacy to state and federal governments. With a new regional plan commencing, Darlene will continue to play a vital role in the region. Far North Queensland is fortunate to have Darlene as a leader, a local mentor and a champion for integrated planning.
